Education & Academic Background
I received my primary, secondary and higher school education in Kaduna State between 1965 and 1978. This formative period laid the foundation for my academic interests in history, governance and public affairs.
In 1978, I gained admission to the University of Lagos, where I pursued undergraduate studies in History. I was awarded a Bachelor’s degree in History in 1981. My undergraduate training strengthened my understanding of political systems, governance, international relations and historical analysis, which later informed my career in public service and government communications.
In 1989, I returned to the University of Lagos for postgraduate studies and was awarded a Master’s degree in Political Science in 1990, graduating with Distinction. I specialised in International Relations, and my research focused on Communications Theory and Integration in West Africa, with a case study examining transactions between Nigeria and the Republic of Benin. This research explored the role of communication in regional cooperation and diplomatic relations within the West African sub-region.
I furthered my academic pursuits in the United Kingdom at the Commonwealth Open University, where I undertook postgraduate studies in Public Relations. I later proceeded to doctoral studies and was awarded a PhD in Public Relations in 2013. My doctoral research was titled “Analysing Credibility: A Study Examining the Factors of Competence and Personality Traits of Resident Information Officers in Nigeria’s Federal Civil Service.” The study examined public sector communication credibility, professional competence and personality attributes within government information management systems.
My academic training, spanning history, political science, international relations and public relations, complemented my professional career in the Nigerian Federal Civil Service and informed my work in government communications, policy coordination and institutional leadership.
